DRIFTING CONTENT EXPANDS ON PODIUM FOR 2021 WITH ESDA AND VDS
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Mar. 30, 2021) – Podium eSports is proud to announce that drift racing will return on the channel in 2021. Podium will carry the entirety of the 2021 Esports Drift Association on Twitch.tv/PodiumeSports as well as select events of the Virtual Drift Series.
Coverage of drifting content will begin with the upcoming Round 4 of the Virtual Drift Series at Long Beach on April 3. The event will feature the game CarX Drift Racing Online, and be Podium’s first-ever broadcast using this title.
“This event will separate the great drivers from the good drivers,” said Wesley Johnson, lead administrator of VDS. “Going wall-to-wall on every clip and zone, there’s little room for error. We’ve always loved the American style of competition, and there’s no better place to showcase the intense battles than the Streets of Long Beach. With Podium coming onboard for the broadcast, it will elevate VDS to the likes of ESDA and other virtual competitions. We are beyond excited for this event and what the future holds.”
After this event will come the return of the Esports Drift Association with their annual driver search from Yas Marina Circuit on April 17.
ESDA is one of the premiere virtual drifting leagues in operation today, having spent several years previously hosting events on Forza Motorsport 7. For 2021, the championship will be moving onto Assetto Corsa, using custom tracks and cars for all the competitors.
“The 2021 ESDA season will be the most competitive season yet,” said Harold McKinney, lead administrator of ESDA. “Drivers with both hidden and known talents from all over the world coming to see who’s best. With Podium broadcasting, we will define and showcase what top level virtual drifting is. The qualifying and battles are sure to be intense.”
The ESDA season will continue with seven regular season rounds scheduled for 2021, and a final playoff round to finish the season.
“Drifting content is one of the unique places that Podium continues to innovate,” said Cisco Scaramuzza, Managing Member at Podium eSports. “We expect the drift community will continue to grow, and we want to be a part of that, helping to nurture and grow it into its own branch of the esports world.”All broadcasts of the 2021 ESDA Season can be found at Twitch.tv/PodiumeSports, as well the upcoming round for the Virtual Drift Series.
