SERIES FIVE OF PCA SIM RACING TO BEGIN FRIDAY ON PODIUM eSPORTS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 2, 2020) – PCA Sim Racing returns to Podium eSports at 7 p.m. ET this Friday, Sept. 4, with the beginning of Series 5. Series 5 is the first season of PCA Sim Racing that will use GT4 cars for competition, as drivers take to some of the best circuits inside and outside of North America in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR. All races in Series 5 can be found on the PCA Sim Racing YouTube Channel.
The Cayman is the star of Series 4, as PCA Sim Racing will go GT4 racing in the same vein as their counterparts in both PCA Club Racing and the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. GT4 cars feature less aero-dependent components than their GT3 and GTE counterparts, while their smaller engines create closer racing throughout the pack.
For Series 5, two new circuits will join some of PCA Sim Racing’s stalwarts on the calendar. Round 3 of Series 5 will see PCA Sim Racing make its first-ever visit to the virtual Barber Motorsports Park, just outside of Birmingham, Alabama. The penultimate round of the season marks PCA Sim Racing’s inaugural race on an Asian course when they head to the Suzuka Circuit on Oct. 16.
The midway point of the season will double as a special event for PCA Sim Racing. Series 5 will tackle Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Sept. 25 – the home track for the Peachstate Region of the PCA, which has traditionally been the most active region in PCA Sim Racing. That event will also feature racing from PCA’s Club Racing program, as some of the best drivers in real-life will try their hand at the virtual world.
After four seasons of competition, PCA Sim Racing has grown from 40+ members at its inception in March 2019 to over 200+ members today. Previous seasons of PCA Sim Racing have featured the Porsche 911 RSR and the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. In four seasons of competition, Billy Smith, William Levesque, Gresham Wagner and Michael Polasek have claimed titles in PCA Sim Racing’s premier division.
The first race of the season will take place at the virtual WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this Friday, Sept. 5. The broadcast will start at 7 p.m. ET on the PCA Sim Racing YouTube Channel.
