PODIUM eSPORTS ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO QUALIFYING FORMAT FOR SOUTHERN 500
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Podium eSports has changed the qualifying procedure for the Podium eSports Southern 500 that will take place on September 2.
Instead of six heat races, there will be six qualifying sessions held throughout the week. There will be one qualifying session per night between August 26-31. These qualifying sessions will begin at 9 p.m. ET and run for two hours. All qualifying sessions will have a fixed track state and setup.
Drivers that are already registered for the Southern 500 can post times in as many of the qualifying sessions as they wish. A driver’s best time will be taken from these six qualifying sessions, and 35 drivers will lock themselves into the Southern 500 off of their qualifying time.
The final eight starting positions will be determined by a last chance qualifier, to be held before the feature race on September 2. All drivers who are not in the top 35 after qualifying or register after August 31 will compete in the last chance qualifier. Refunds will only be offered until Midnight tonight (8/26/19) to those who do not like or cannot run in the changed event.
The Southern 500 costs $35 to enter. The registration form and the event rulebook are available at https://www.podiumesports.com/southern-500/.
